Conservative Account

My strategy will be to select dividend paying securities. Entries will usually be with a Naked Put (NP) when the price of the underlying has pulled back. If I get assigned, I’ll hold the underlying (as long as it is performing well) and write Covered Calls every month or two and collect dividends. If I don’t get assigned, I’ll consider another NP – always keeping track of the dwindling cost basis for the underlying.

As an alternative (depending on the circumstances) I will enter with a Buy/Write (normal Covered Call – buy the stock and write the Calls in one transaction).

This page is devoted to documenting the trades and history of my Conservative Account. This account was started on 11/19/2009. It will be updated as soon as possible after a trade is completed.

Hi Jeff, I really appreciate your site here. I'm wondering if you can provide the spreadsheet that you use above to track your trades, as it's exactly like what I've been looking for.
  • Mike,

Sure - a copy is on it's way. If you have any questions, just ask.

    Hi,

Thanks for the great info you put out.....but I'm just wondering....as I try to learn about NPs.
Am I missing something or are you adding instead of subtracting when you buy back a put? I.E.: KFT: You sold the Jan 25 for 195, and bot them back for 6. Doesn't that make your net TOTAL $189 instead of $201? Same with LTD. Shouldnt' the net on LTD be $160 instead of $200?

    Suzanne,

You are absolutely correct - and thanks for catching the mistake. That's what happens to me when I get carried away with copy/paste. The correction will be posted soon.

    - Jeff
